I got a letter today. It made me feel relieved and happy to hear from him so I wanted to share it with everyone.

Today we did an obstacle course. Well, it is called a "confidence course." I had to free climb a ladder that was 150ft. You had to pull yourself up to the steps. At the top you had to flip over, and go down the other side. We did an exercise that I had to climb a tower as high as the other and I had to slide down a rope to the ground. I rode it (the rope) down from the top of the tower. There were other crazy obstacles like that.
I also learned how to disassemble my rifle and put it back together. Today was a great day. I felt really good about myself after completing the obstacle course. There were 26 obstacles. It taught me a lot about myself.

Today was modern combatives. [This is hand to hand combat. I think Cass would really enjoy!] I want to send something out so I will have to send this. [So he did not have time to give details on the modern combatives.]
Let everyone know what's going on . . . including Bruno, he will tell the others.
Much Love
I was so relieved to hear that he was feeling good about what he was accomplishing. When I read about some of the skills they would be working on, they sounded like something Cass would really enjoy. So I am happy to hear he is finding that to be true. He also included a letter to his Aunt Bridget, Uncle Joey and Cousin Ian with my letter. It also had some good information about his activities that I thought I would share.

...I stared basic officially Friday. Yesterday we had our first obstacle course. It was a team building exercise. [In this phase of BCT called the Red Phase they work on confidence and team building.] My squad dominated . . . . The obstacle course was like a puzzle at each stage. Each stage was physically demanding with goals involved. These goals normally involve an ammo box that you had to get across. Also, you had to get your squad across (14 people).
Cass also expressed how much he "loved" the pictures that his Aunt Bridget sent him of Ian.
He really enjoys hearing from home and really appreciates pictures. Please keep the encouraging letters from home coming. It such a small effort to write a letter and it means so much. I really appreciate all of you and I know Cass does even more!
Stay tuned.
