Sunday CALL!

Cass finally called on Sunday!  He said they were not supposed to get to call until the next phase but they did well on locker inspections and the D.S. promised they could call.

We talked for ten whole minutes.  He sounded good but tired.  Proudly, he made it through the gas chamber.  They take a squad into a gas chamber with masks on and close the door.  The chamber is quite small!  They release riot control gas into the chamber and make the "warriors" take off their masks and do various simple tasks and recitations.  They are in there for over 5 minutes.  A number of would be solider really struggle with it.  They cannot graduate if they do not complete it.  Cass said it felt literally like he was on fire.  He got a little chuckle at the expense of a couple of other guys.  One was yelling that he was on fire!  They other one was yelling that he was going to die.  Several vomit!  There is a video on UTube that shows what it is all about.  Cass said it does not do it justice!  I was really nervous about this for him.  We both have issues with small spaces.  He said he did well.

For the next two weeks they will be doing rifle marksmanship.  He should enjoy that.

He as set a goal to get a perfect score on this Physical Fitness test.  He said he is there on his sit ups but still has some improvement to make on his two mile time and push ups.  I think you have to do 75 push ups in 2 minutes.

He said he has made a couple of friends and is doing well other than not enough sleep.

It was so good to hear from him!  Please continue the letters now more than ever he needs encouragement!

Thank you all!
