I wanted to create a place where family and friends could follow Cass' journey to become a Soldier and to be the man he wants to be and is meant to be.
Its been a week and two days since we left him at the MEPS Hotel in Oklahoma City to leave for basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. To say that it was hard, is such an understatement. However, the decision for him to go into the Army was his decision and his decision alone. He wants and needs to find a way to get his life on the right path and this is what he believes will provide what he is look for. I feel confident that the Army will help him be the person he wants to be. The Army will take care of him. His fellow soldiers will have his back and watch out for him. In my heart I believe he is safer and more protected in the Army than he was in the civilian world.
I realize that Cass' enlistment may seem extreme to some. But Cass has always been a person of extremes! I would expect nothing less of him.
Please follow his journey, support him and support the troops. Please write him often and please take care of yourselves.
With love,
Cass' Mom
